Happy first Friday of fall, y’all! I have been really MIA lately, so let’s get back to blogging!
1// I have been on vacation from school back home in Louisiana for the last two weeks and I have absolutely been taking advantage of doing NOTHING. I thought I was going to be working like crazy on the blog and even getting some studying done (HAHAHA) but I’ve really just been enjoying time with family and friends and relaxing. And that’s ok. I really needed some time to have nothing on my agenda. But I think two weeks was enough. Time to start making to-do lists again.
2// Yesterday was the first day of Fall!! YASSSS I don’t care how basic that makes me. Fall was my favorite season before being basic was a thing. I will drink all of the pumpkin spice lattes, and wear all of the boots and all of the scarves. Well, I will once it’s not 95 degrees outside (insert very sad face here). Seriously, the highs here in Louisiana are still in the 90s. GET WITH IT, SOUTHERN STATES.
3// My internal medicine rotation is over, and I passed my end of rotation exams! Next up is my psych rotation. When I first started college, I was a psychology major. I have always found psych to be interesting. I just love to pick people’s brains and dissect behaviors. I am looking forward to learning more about the medical side of psychology.
4// I don’t have cable at home. We have Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Now. This really gives us more than enough things to watch, but sometimes there are things I miss on regular TV. While being at my mom’s house I have been binging on HGTV and Bravo mostly. And can we please talk about that JonBenet Ramsey case special?!? I remember when that case first happened, I was still a little girl myself. Let’s discuss in the comments!
5// I am getting my eyebrows microbladed today and I am so freaking excited! My hair is fine and thin, so my eyebrows are very faint. I have grown them out over the last few years, but I still need to fill them in or I will feel naked. I can’t wait to see how they turn out. Look out for a post soon on all the details of my experience!
Medical Fact// In honor of me being at the plastic surgeon’s office today getting microbladed, let’s talk about boobies! The most common plastic surgery procedure is a breast augmentation. Typically a patient will come in for a consultation with the physician which includes an exam of the existing breast tissue, and recommendation of how big the implant should be. Surgery is scheduled after that. The surgery only takes about 45-60 minutes for a primary augmentation and is an outpatient procedure. After an hour of post-op recovery, patients are able to go home. Patients will come back the next day for an exam of the surgical site, then in two weeks to have sutures removed. The pain and soreness will be the worst for the first two days, but after that patients are usually able to resume normal activity at home. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs for 4-6 weeks after surgery. Follow ups will be scheduled for 3, 6, and 12 months after the surgery to make sure the breasts are healing well and settling into place.
I hope you guys have a great weekend, and I hope someone out there is enjoying fall weather, because it’s certainly still hot as heck here.
