Farmhouse Inspired Home Decor
There have been lots of things going on lately. I signed my job contract last week, and this week we signed a lease on a house! It’s a three bedroom two bathroom in the cutest little neighborhood. I am seriously so excited about moving back into a house and leaving apartment life behind. I am definitely ready to spread out a little again. We got rid of a lot of our furniture and decor when we moved from New Orleans so I’ve been busy researching and planning how to decorate the new place. I think my style is a mix of traditional, rustic farmhouse and French provincial with some industrial and coastal mixed in and a touch of glam. Does that even make sense? I hope it translates into a beautiful home that we love spending time in.
The farmhouse style is huge right now (a thank you to the fabulous Joanna Gaines). I like the style too, but I don’t like to take it so literally, as in a sign that actually says Farmhouse for example. You can use elements of the style to make a farmhouse feel without actually having the chickens pecking outside. I like using touches of copper metal, creamy ceramics, distressed woods, dusty muted teals, and natural materials to achieve a rustic feel.
