Loft was having a 60% off clearance items sale at the time I made this purchase (right now, the whole store is 40% off!) Since most of the items I purchased were on clearance, they were final sales. Usually I don’t gamble with final sales unless it’s a really exceptional deal or I already know the fit. I must have been feeling ballsy that day! Here’s what I picked up:
BASKET WEAVE RIVIERA CROPPED PANTS IN MARISA FIT – I liked these even more than I thought I would. These are true to size and leave no gap in the back. I was worried about how I would like the wider crop leg, but I don’t mind it at all. These are perfect for work, and in the Florida heat, the crop makes them just a bit cooler. I wore them to work and they were very comfy. The only thing I wish was different was the lack of pockets. They also make them in Julie fit. (these are a size 10)
This top is also from Loft, you can find it here.
MODERN STRAIGHT LEG JEANS – This was my most risky purchase. I have a hard time finding bottoms that fit. It’s either major muffin top or a 3 inch gap above the butt. I have never had a pair of white jeans because every pair I have tried on was a) see through, and b) made my thighs look like mashed potatoes stuffed into a stocking. This pair had excellent reviews, so I just went for it. To my SHOCK AND AWE, they fit like a dang glove. No see through to the undies, no mashed potato ass, no muffin top and no back gap. They would look great with a light tank and a cognac colored bag and shoes. (these are a size 30/10)
Check out some of my cognac sandal picks (I’m kind of obsessed with those chunky platforms!)
ESSENTIAL TANK – These are perfect fitting tank tops and they were only $6 a piece, so it was a no brainer to stock up on a few. Fits snugly but not too tight. Shows a little bit of cleavage on me, but not too much. It’s great for layering or to wear solo. I previously had one in the color turquoise, and this order I picked up ones in navy, peach, pink, and blue. (this is in a size medium)
SLEEVELESS SIDE SHIRRED DRESS – This one was just ok for me. If I could return it, I probably would. The side shirring is supposed to be flattering for the tummy area, but it hit me at a weird level and almost accentuates the belly pudge rather than hide it. I will wear it with heels or flats for work. Once it gets a little colder, I can add a scarf for some color. It also would be good to throw some sexy black booties on for a work to date look. (this is in a size medium)
TASSELED MIDI DRESS – I normally wouldn’t go for a pattern like this, but I ended up liking it. I like the higher neckline and the lower hem for work. It’s not the most flattering dress I own, but the fit and fabric were comfy and would work well with my white coat over it. The tassel was a nice touch, although I wish it was just a bit larger so it would stand out against the pattern of the dress. (this is in a size medium)
These shoes are actually really comfortable. They come in black, nude, and cognac.
ABSTRACT TIE WAIST DRESS – This dress was made of some light sheer airy material with a built in black slip underneath. This would be cool for the summer heat here. I like this one for work too as it was a comfortable fit. When tied, the dress comes up pretty high on the sides, but the way the fabric falls hides it. You could also remove the tie and wear it as a shift dress. (this is in a size medium)
STRIPPED CROSS BACK DRESS – I was kind of confused about this dress. The idea of it is everything I love: stripes, POCKETS, and a cute back detail. On, it also seemed to have a lot of extra fabric around the middle, and since it is lightweight and loose fitting, the pockets are kind of pointless. The whole dress pulls down when your hand is in the pocket. In the online picture, I thought the cut out in the back would fall between the bra line and the lower back. Trying it on, it became clear that it falls right where your bra should go. I’m a busty gal, and the thought of trotting around town in a light loose cotton dress sans-bra makes me a little nervous. And I’m not really into those contraption-type bras that you can wear with oddly shaped clothes. So this one ended up being a “meh” for me. I can still wear it with a bra and a cardigan or my white coat over it, but that kind of defeats the cute back. I guess I can pick up a cute bralette to wear under it, like this one or this one? (this is in a size medium – you might want to order down a size for a better fit?)
